The Wood Buffalo Homeschool Association is a non-profit community organization dedicated to supporting families educating their children at home in the Fort McMurray and Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo area.
We believe parents and legal guardians are the primary educators. Our role is to offer enrichment, community connection, practical resources, and guidance as a supplement to the education families direct themselves under Alberta's Education Act.
Members gain access to our events and event calendar, resource library, bylaws and policies, and a welcoming community of local homeschooling families.
We support families directing their children's education at home. We respect every family's right to choose the approach that fits their children and values.
Parents hold primary responsibility and authority. We support — we do not replace or direct home education.
We welcome structured, classical, project-based, unschooling, faith-based, and every other legal method of home education.
Our programs complement what families do at home. Participation never replaces a family's legal obligations under the Education Act.
